Why curing fresh concrete matters so much
Even a well-designed mix will not reach its target strength without proper curing. Curing is concrete's invisible insurance.
Curing keeps concrete moist and warm in its first days so the cement can fully hydrate. Poor curing leads to surface cracking, dusting and loss of strength.
Practical tips
- Keep the surface moist for at least 7 days; water several times a day in hot weather.
- In wind and sun, cover the surface with plastic sheeting or wet hessian.
- Use a curing membrane (curing compound) where needed.
